Sarah Barham is a Co-Founder and Partner of Knowledge Keiretsu.
Sarah has been involved in the hedge fund community for more than 25 years. ISI Publications (ISI) – established in Hong Kong in 1991 – published dozens of titles on alternative asset classes, in various jurisdictions. Alternative IQ, for example, was a best-selling quarterly for more than a decade. The How to Start and Grow a Hedge Fund series grew to include the US, Europe, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia.
Relocating to Bermuda in 1995 afforded Sarah the opportunity to expand into the North American market, and consequently Sarah helped build imprints for clients such as HedgeWorld (ultimately bought by Reuters, now Thomson Reuters), and worked with numerous exchanges and multi-nationals to help build brand awareness through print, and latterly, digital media.
On landing in Toronto, ISI expanded further and re-entered the events business. In tandem with launching the Hedge Fund Hotel, Toronto’s first co-location facility for start-up hedge funds, Sarah co-founded the Canadian Hedge Fund Awards (CHFA). Sarah also built the publishing and events business for mutual fund compliance company, Independent Review Inc, and has worked with major banks and law firms in Canada on their brand awareness strategy. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the CHFA is an established date in the alternative investment community’s calendar. Sarah continues to publish books on alternative investments, the most recent title, The Definitive Guide to Canadian Hedge Funds, goes on sale in September 2017.
One of the recipients of multiple Canadian awards once joked that Sarah is the ‘Mother Teresa’ of Canadian Hedge Funds.
Sarah lives in Toronto, Canada and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
